Teenage boy found with eight-inch knife following arrest over Lancaster rail staff assault

A teenage boy was found in possession of an eight-inch knife after being arrested over an assault on a staff member at Lancaster station.

British Transport Police say the 14-year-old punched a member of rail staff to the side of the head, ‘very hard’, in an incident on Thursday.

The boy was restrained by other staff and was then quickly arrested.

It was discovered he was in possession of an eight-inch kitchen knife in his waistband, and also had a hammer in his bag.

Enquiries are ongoing.

An officer at BTP commented on Twitter: ‘’(The staff member) was very shook up when this happened.

‘’(You can see it on) CCTV and it was really nasty. He staggered back to the platform edge with the force of the punch.

‘’He’s a real trooper though, and already back at work.’’
