Star of TV's The Hotel Inspector helping to transform Morecambe pub

The host of hit TV show The Hotel Inspector has been helping a Morecambe pub ahead of a big relaunch.

Hotelier and businesswoman Alex Polizzi, who presents the Channel 5 documentary series, has been advising Gemma and Gareth Gardner at The York Hotel and helping to give the Morecambe pub a makeover.

TV cameras have also been filming at the York, with Alex, ahead of a show to be broadcast soon.

The programme will be based on the 'Hotel Inspector' theme where Alex gives suggestions to improve hospitality businesses.

The pub will also undergo an official name change, dropping the 'Hotel' to become just The York.

Gemma (pictured below) and Gareth officially took over The York in 2022 and have battled relentlessly ever since to turn it around.

They had to deal with a fire at the Lancaster Road pub last September, when the Gardner family, staff and guests had to flee in the middle of the night after a blaze broke out in the kitchen.

But the York recovered and a few days ago the busy pub was part of Morecambe Music Festival, where Gemma said they had an "exceptional weekend".

To celebrate the relaunch they are hosting a family fun day on Tuesday August 1, with full details to be announced soon.
