Six Lancaster schools receive Christmas gifts from Lancaster City Football Club

Schoolchildren at Moorside Primary School in Lancaster with Dave Evans, Lancaster City FC Head of Community

Children at six primary schools have received Christmas gifts thanks to a new scheme run by Lancaster City FC.

Activity books, made by the club as part of the Dollies in the Community (DITC) project, are being sent out to Moorside, Bowerham, Scotforth, Dallas Road, Willow Lane and Ryelands schools over the festive season.

The books are designed for children between the ages of six and 11 and include quizzes, puzzles and games.

The books also contain free season tickets and the opportunity to be a mascot at a Lancaster City game, as well as £10,000 in discount vouchers for parents.

One of the main aims with the project is to create the next generation of fans at the Giant Axe and boost the club’s local profile.

Dave Evans, one of Lancaster City’s directors and the Head of Community, said to the club's website: “The feedback from the children has been fantastic.

“A big thank you to Maddie and the Media Team who have worked so hard in putting this together.

“A thank you to our lead sponsor, accessplanit, who have helped fund the activity book.”

The initiative was organised by DITC, the club’s media team and Maddie Whitehouse Designs.

The Dollies in the Community initiative began in the summer and since then it has set up so many exciting local events and projects, including a walking football club, junior coaching sessions, a team and school of the week and a free mascot programme.
