Rising prices lead to closure of popular Morecambe sandwich shop

The Buttery in Morecambe is now closed

Rising electricity and food/drink prices have led to the closure of a popular Morecambe town centre sandwich shop and cafe.

The Buttery on Anderton Street, close to Pedder Street car park, shut its doors permanently last month.

A statement on The Buttery Facebook page said: "Well after having this business for 10 years we have had to close our doors for the last time.

"Due to electric prices and goods prices etc going up all the time we just cannot make this a viable business.

"We thank everyone for supporting us over the years from Ester, Brett and all the girls at The Buttery."

The cafe, deli and takeaway was popular for its sandwiches, breakfasts, salads, jacket potatoes and pies, and had a small seating area for diners.

The building was previously home to Potts Pies before becoming The Buttery.
