Positive cases of Covid-19 rise 78% in Lancaster

The number of people testing positive for Covid-19 in the Lancaster and Morecambe district has risen 78.1% week-on-week, according to government figures.

Between March 5 and March 11, there were six deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 500.0% compared to the previous seven days.

Between March 4 and 10, there were 12,289 tests in Lancaster. This shows a decrease of -0.8% compared to the previous seven days.

Vaccination levels show that 114,283 people in the district had been given a first dose of a Covid vaccine by the end of March 10.

107,546 people had been given a second dose by the end of March 10.

87,308 people had been given a booster or third dose by the end of March 10.

Between February 28 and March 6, 129 went into Morecambe Bay trust hospitals with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 35.8% compared to the previous seven days.

There were 86 patients in Morecambe Bay hospitals with coronavirus on March 8.

There were three coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on March 8.
