Police offer reassurance over North Lancashire rural burglaries

Police say there will be increased patrols following a spate of residential burglaries in rural parts of North Lancashire.

There has been a number of incidents recently in areas including Carnforth, Silverdale, Borwick and Over Kellet, and it’s also an issue been over the border in the South Lakes.

The burglaries have seen offenders forcing entry from the rear of properties to steal jewellery and other items.

Residents are asked to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.

DI Adie Knowles from Lancaster CID said: ‘’We’re quite confident it’s the same people carrying out these offences, as they all have similar characteristics.

‘’We’ve done lots of joined up work with our colleagues from Cumbria Constabulary on this. The message is that if you see anything out of the ordinary, try and be as vigilant as possible.

‘’This could be people, vans and so on i that wouldn’t usually be there in the local area, and if you see this by all means you can let us know on 101 or on email at 6966@lancashire.police.uk.

‘’The more we know, the more we can follow up.

There will be increased visibility in these areas and taking it very seriously. Please report anything you’re not happy with.
