A detective inspector has warned residents to be extra vigilant after a spate of house burglaries in Bolton-le-Sands.

The break-ins are believed to be linked, said Det Insp Adie Knowles of Lancaster Police.

He said that four of the burglaries have happened on Merefell Road, taking place on July 2, two on October 8, and one between October 26 and 29, and one other burglary took place on Whin Grove.

"They are all happening overnight; people going round the back of the property, forcing windows, smashing windows," said Det Insp Knowles, speaking on Beyond Radio.

"They are being investigated as being linked.

"If you see any suspicious vehicles, people hanging around, we need to know about it.

"We need people to vigilant to try and stop them, because we don't want any more."
