A team dressed as Where's Wally who took part in the New Year's Day Dip earlier in 2022

A chilly challenge to raise money for a Lancaster hospice returns on Boxing Day.

St John's Hospice is organising the Boxing Day Dip where people brave the waters of Morecambe Bay to raise money for the hospice.

Fancy dress is welcomed and there is also a 500m swim course challenge available too.

The Dip costs £10 to enter and the swim, for strong swimmers who are used to cold water, is £12 sign-up

Registration opens at 11am on December 26 for the start at noon, near the original Morecambe lifeboat station.

Male and female changing facilities in heated gazebos are available.

Minimum age for the dip is 11, all children must be accompanied by an adult (over 18). Minimum age for the swim is 15. Everyone must sign a disclaimer on the day before participating.

Online sales close at noon on Friday December 23 but sign ups will be available on the day.

Contact the hospice fundraising department with any queries on 01524 382538.

Beyond Radio's Greg Lambert will provide announcements on the day.

St John’s Hospice is a charity based on Slyne Road, Lancaster, which provides free palliative care to patients with life shortening conditions.
