A man was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries after he was hit by a car in Lancaster city centre.
A police spokesperson said the collision on King Street was between a car and a man who was unloading items from his vehicle.
He said another vehicle may also have been clipped during the incident on Thursday morning.
Police were called at around 6.50am.
The road was closed for a time afterwards and traffic in Lancaster city centre was gridlocked during rush-hour.
Traffic was also affected by a separate incident on Thursday morning in which a lorry went off the carriageway near Junction 34 of the M6 at Lancaster and had to be recovered.
