A long-time head teacher in Morecambe has become the new CEO of a leading Lancaster-based charity for young people.
Siobhan Collingwood will take over the post at Escape2Make (E2M) from Jenny Natusch from Monday.
Mrs Collingwood is best known locally for being head teacher of Morecambe Bay Primary School, a role she held for 17 years until 2021.
E2M aims to help all 11-18 year-olds in the Lancaster and Morecambe area to escape from boredom, social media, loneliness and any pressure at school or home by providing workshops and short courses hosted by local businesses, national businesses, local artists and university students.
It has also run successful youth-led events in the local area including the Green Festival and Heritage Marketplace Festival.
"E2M are thrilled to announce that from Monday we have a brand new CEO leading the way," said a spokesperson for the charity.
"Siobhan Collingwood is a highly respected leader in education, mental health, and youth justice, driven by a passion for social cohesion. When asked for her thoughts, she simply said 'What the world needs now is E2M!'
"Siobhan is a force of nature and we cannot wait to have her at the helm, to steer us into the next exciting chapter of our development."
Posting on her X account, Mrs Collingwood said she was "so excited to be taking up the post of CEO of the amazing charity E2M from September.
"Looking forward to joining the inspirational team, making a difference. There's never been more need for kind creative spaces where young people's voices advocate for a better world!"
Jenny Natusch, founder of the charity, posted on her LinkedIn: "I'm thrilled to announce that from September, I will be stepping down as CEO of Escape2Make (E2M) to welcome an extraordinary new leader who will guide the charity into an exciting phase of growth.
"Please join me in welcoming Siobhan Collingwood as E2M's new CEO!
"Siobhan’s vision will undoubtedly elevate E2M to new heights.
"A heartfelt thank you to the four incredible young people from our youth board who played a vital role in the interviews.
"I’m so excited to see how E2M evolves under Siobhan’s leadership, and I’m confident in a future full of impact and innovation."
Last month, Escape2Make begun a fundraising campaign to hold a young people's fair to launch their new centre.
The charity is set to open its brand new creative, free space for young people in Lancaster, in early 2025.
