Police say they are ready to "respond quickly if we need to" after calls on social media for a march through Lancaster to protest about the Southport knife attack tragedy.
Protests are being planned in cities around the UK over the stabbings in Southport on Monday, in which three children were killed.
A post shared by Tommy Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, co-founder of far right group the English Defence League, says a 'peaceful protest' is being planned at the weekend in Lancaster.
Other demonstrations have been advertised online in cities including Liverpool, Glasgow, Blackburn, Newcastle, Birmingham, Sunderland, Dover, Middlesbrough, Leeds and Hull.
They follow nights of violent protest in English towns this week, including Southport, Aldershot and Hartlepool, stoked by misinformation online about the attack.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said on Friday: “We are aware of the outbreaks of disorder in other areas of the country and have initiated a command structure to reflect this and to reassure communities in Lancashire that we are able to respond quickly if we need to.
“We are also working with communities and partners to ensure that we are ready to respond to any concerns, or incidents within Lancashire.
“When we are aware of planned protests, we will balance the lawful right to protest with the need to prevent serious disruption and everyone’s right to go about their lives without fear or risk of harm.
“If there are outbreaks of disorder, we will robustly investigate any offences committed to ensure those responsible are brought to justice."
A Unity Rally, by Stand Up to Racism, is also being planned on Sunday at Lancaster Town Hall.
Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, died after they were attacked at a Taylor Swift-themed event at a Southport dance class.
Five children and two adults injured in the attack remain in hospital, while two other children have since been discharged from Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, 17, from Banks in Lancashire, appeared in court on Thursday charged with murder and attempted murders. He was remanded into youth detention accommodation.
