Labour candidate selected for new Morecambe and Lunesdale constituency

Lizzi Collinge has been chosen as the Labour candidate to fight for the Morecambe and Lunesdale seat at the next general election.

The Heysham mum-of-two will contest the constituency, currently held by Conservative David Morris.

Boundary changes mean that the constituency now includes the Lower Lune Valley ward, which is currently in Lancaster & Fleetwood, in addition to Arnside, Kirkby Lonsdale and Sedbergh.

Ms Collinge is currently a Lancashire county councillor and deputy chair of Lancashire’s Health and Adult Service Scrutiny Committee.

She also contested the seat in 2019, coming second behind David Morris, who secured an increased majority of 6,354.

‘’I'm enormously honoured to have been selected by Morecambe and Lunesdale members to be Labour's candidate at the next general election,’’ she said.

‘’It's a huge task to win an election but I know that together, as a team, we can deliver the change so desperately needed in Morecambe and Lunesdale and the country at large."

Mr Morris has been the sitting MP since 2010, and has already he will fight the new Morecambe & Lunesdale constituency at the next election.
