INTERVIEW: Special evening of lights in Lancaster will remember loved ones lost to cancer

'Lights on the Lawn' is an event to remember lost loved ones

People who have lost loved ones to cancer will gather to remember them at a poignant event in Lancaster.

CancerCare's 'Lights on the Lawn' takes place this Friday, April 19, at the charity's base at Slynedales on Slyne Road.

Lights on the Lawn is an opportunity for reflection to remember loved ones with shining displays of light in their memory.

People are invited to dedicate a candle, bearing your loved one’s name and a personal message.

Anna Webster from CancerCare North Lancashire and South Cumbria visited the Beyond Radio studio to talk about Lights on the Lawn.

Lights on the Lawn starts at 6.45pm.

Supporters of all ages are invited to decorate and personalise a glass jar which will hold their loved one’s candle when placed on the lawn.

The event will feature live music as well as time and space for quiet reflection.

If you would like to dedicate a light but are unable to attend in-person, CancerCare will be able to add your dedication and place your candle for you. You will also receive a special keepsake postcard in recognition of your dedication.

By sponsoring a candle, you will also be supporting CancerCare’s work and providing vital help to people in the local community affected by cancer or bereavement.

There will also be a team of qualified CancerCare therapists in attendance on the night, should you feel the need to talk to someone.

You will also receive a special keepsake postcard in return for your dedication.

The event is sponsored by Birchall Blackburn Law of Morecambe.

An online dedication wall with beautiful pictures and messages for Lights on the Lawn has also been created here
