Indie star to perform at opening night of Morecambe Music Festival as 2024 line-up revealed

Chris Helme is performing at the Morecambe Music Festival

The frontman of popular indie band The Seahorses is among the acts revealed for the opening night of the 2024 Morecambe Music Festival in July.

Chris Helme will perform at The Exchange on Thursday, July 11, alongside popular local band, Listen Twice, and London singer songwriter, Laurie Wright.

Helme was the frontman of The Seahorses, the band put together by legendary guitarist John Squire, following the break up of The Stone Roses in the 1990s, and are famous for hits including Blinded By The Sun, Love Is The Law, and You Can Talk To Me.

Also playing at the event’s second ‘Introducing’ night is local indie rock band Listen Twice, who came to people’s attention earlier this year with a superb set at School Aid.

Closing the night will be Laurie Wright, performing his high energy rock ‘n roll. Laurie has recently been touring with The Molotovs promoting his new album ‘Get On The End Of It’.

Across the whole weekend, around 175 acts will perform across 35 venues as part of the seventh annual Morecambe Music Festival.

The live music extravaganza will take place in pubs, cafes, hotels and other venues across the town from Thursday July 11 to Sunday July 14.

The full line-up has been announced and includes plenty of variety for music fans.

The full festival line-up can be found here.

The thousands who descend on Morecambe to watch the festival will be able to enjoy rock, pop, soul, country, hip-hop, reggae, indie, ska, punk, Irish music, acoustic, DJs, tribute acts, ukulele, and even a sea shanty crew!
