Chef and musician's unique mashed potato takeaway to expand into Lancaster

James Ashcroft

A unique mashed potato takeaway run by a local chef and musician is set to expand into Lancaster.

Mashcroft's will open a second site at the Bowerham Hotel on Friday March 1.

The new takeaway run by James Ashcroft, selling mashed potato-based dishes, has proven popular since opening at the Trimpell Club in Morecambe in December.

James called it Mashcroft's in tribute to his dad Keith, also a musician, who passed away in 2020.

Customers can choose their mash from a range of flavours including classic butter, smoked cheese, mustard and thyme, and black pudding, and top their potato with either beef, bacon, sausages or Chicken a' la Keith named after James's dad.

A post on the Mashcroft's Facebook page says: "So as many of you now know, we open our second site on Friday 1st of March at The Bowerham Hotel.

"This means we are going to be making some changes to our opening hours. They will be as follows.

"Thursday Feb 22nd - Monday 26th open.
Closed in Morecambe until Friday 8th March.

"Morecambe opening hours will then change to Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

"Lancaster will be open Wednesday to Sunday.

"Keep your eyes on the page for a big announcement regarding our launch party."

James also runs chicken takeaway Wingin' It and will also open a new burger takeaway Smashcroft's, operating from Lancaster, on March 1.
