Beyond Radio to host The Big Family Day Out at Highest Point festival

Beyond Radio is delighted to be hosting The Big Family Day Out at Highest Point festival once again - with Adele, Harry Styles, Queen and Ed Sheeran tribute acts...and Black Lace!

The Big Family Day Out will return to the popular annual music and arts festival at Williamson Park in Lancaster on Sunday May 14.

The Beyond Radio team will be hosting the main stage for the third year running and we can't wait!

In a fusion of the King’s Coronation and Eurovision Song Contest - which are also both happening in May - the Big Family Day Out theme this year is the kings and queens of pop.

You are invited to come along dressed up as your favourite pop icon from years gone by and who knows, your outfit might be a prize winning favourite!

This year's Big Family Day Out main stage will be all about the music, by popular demand.

So conga champions Black Lace will bring all the hits to close the afternoon’s activities with a sure fire singalong set for you to join in with Superman, Agadoo, Music Man and many more.

Warming the stage before the big finale is a whole host of talent playing tribute to their musical heroes.

The Magic Queen - Queen tribute, a Harry Styles tribute, Maxine Mazumder as Adele and Tom White as Ed Sheeran will all be part of the line-up

We will also welcome back the talented team from Stagecoach Drama School in Lancaster.

The Dell Stage this year has a whole host of shows to showcase all the different ways you can get into music - whether that’s using your own voice with Shlomo's BeatBox Adventure, a Poetry Explosion with Mark Grist, Drum workshops with Off Beat or Brass Bands with Honk!

If you fancy a break from the music you can head up to the memorial square for Crafty Vintage - purveyors of classic vintage, collectables, retro wares, quirky handmade, fine foods and delectable cuisine.

A visit to the park Butterfly House and Lancaster’s own mini-zoo will once again included in the cost of your ticket.

Inside the magnificent Ashton Memorial is the craft zone where you can take home your very own screen printed bag or make your very own magical story jar or simply take in the magnificent views across Lancashire and out toward Morecambe Bay.

You can also head down the hill to the Bergonia Garden and meet the Birds and the Bees as well as the Creepy Crawly Roadshow.

There will be Storytelling by the fire whilst the Wilderness Tribe teach you all about cooking outdoors.

You can also climb aboard the fire engine, have a photo with the Paw Patrol, dance with Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, or have your very own song penned by The Songsmiths (pictured below at last year's Highest Point clowning around with Beyond Radio's Greg Lambert).

And that’s before you’ve headed off to meet the Wizards at The Magic Forest Trail or down the slope to meet T-Rex and his friends in our very own Jurassic Park

Jane Blackburn and RagTag Arts Grand Parade with also be on hand -and there will be costume making, a festival photo booth, Mad Junk Mini Golf and Loose Parts Play happening all day up on the mound.

With something for everyone, and half the tickets already gone we hope you get to join us at The Big Family Day Out 2023 in Williamson Park.

Tickets are available here.

Highest Point festival will run from Thursday May 11 to Sunday May 14.

Already announced - Brit award-winning band Bastille will headline on the main stage on Friday May 12, while chart-topping pop star Anne-Marie (pictured below) will headline on Saturday May 13.

Hacienda Classical will return to headline on the opening Thursday night.

Gok Wan, Sigma, Craig Charles, Toploader, Friendly Fires and Freya Ridings are among the other names appearing during the festival.
