Our guide to Christmas events across North Lancashire and Morecambe Bay

Here is a guide to festive events across the North Lancashire and Morecambe Bay area this Christmas.

Christmas Tree Festival

Friday November 29, Saturday November 30 and Sunday December 1, from 10am until 5pm (except Sundays, 4pm closure), St Peter’s Church, Quernmore, Lancaster


The 12th festival with 30 trees of all sizes kindly sponsored by many local businesses and organisations.There will be refreshments on sale and the choirs of Quernmore School and Caton Primary School will perform (lunchtime on Friday 29th) and also Cawthorne’s School, Abbeystead, (Friday morning). Family Service will be held among the trees on Sunday December 1 at 10am.

 

Silverdale Christmas Market

Friday November 29, 5pm, Silverdale Hotel

Stalls with unique handmade products for Christmas gifts and treats

 

Overton Christmas Tree Switch On

Friday November 29, 7pm for 7.30pm, outside the Scout Hut, Overton.

With Rachel Macfarlane from Team Reece. Refreshments by the Scout Group.

 

Christmas on the Crescent

An annual festive event based in and around Princes Crescent in Bare village, Morecambe.  This year it will include market stalls, children's entertainment, music, food and drink, pet festive fancy dress, a treasure hunt and fundraisers including the Mayor's Bare Tucker Trial.

Christmas Craft Fair

Saturday November 30, 10am to 4pm, Morecambe and Heysham Sea Cadets, Pedder Street, Morecambe

Market stalls, drinks, games and activites to get involved with.

 

Christmas Fair

Saturday November 30, 10am to 3pm, St John's Hospice, Slyne Road, Lancaster

Includes the famous chocolate tombola, cake stalls, local businesses' stalls, hot chocolate, Jo and Cass stylists and more.

 

Christmas Book Fair

Saturday November 30, 10am to 3.30pm, Lancaster Library

Books, CDs and cake. Free admission

 

Festive Family Fun Day

Saturday November 30, 2pm to 3.30pm, Hope Church, Lancaster

Games, activities, Christmas crafts, a story, face paint, follow the star treasure hunt and candy floss.

 

Christmas Market

Sunday December 1, 11am to 3.30pm, Creations Dance Academy, 101-102 Marine Road West, Morecambe

See Santa and his Elves, stalls and refreshments, raffle and tombola games. Free admission.

 

Events by All Occasions Christmas Crafts Workshop

Sunday December 1, 10am to 2pm, Ashton Memorial, Williamson Park, Lancaster

Pay as you go Christmas crafts activities, hot chocolate, mulled wine, brownies and mince pies.

 

16th Morecambe Scouts Christmas Fair

Sunday December 1, 12.30pm to 4pm, Scout Hut, Michaelson Avenue, Torrisholme, Morecambe

Stalls, Christmas gifts, sweet treats and prize raffle. Free admission but donations welcome.

 

Community Crafts Christmas Workshop

Sunday December 1, 2pm to 4pm, Heysham Jubilee Institute

 

King Street Christmas Fair

Sunday December 1, noon to 6pm, King Street, Lancaster

Participating businesses are Tipple, Runner Duck Wine Room, The Exchange, Forty-Five Records, Holm, Lapel Menswear, Colour Works, Green Bloomers, Atticus and Studio Love the Rock

 

Christmas Fair

Wednesday December 4, 10am to 2pm, Leighton Hall, Carnforth

Arts, crafts, food and gifts at the stunning estate. Admission £5.

 

Carnforth Christmas Lights Switch On

Wednesday, December 4, from 6pm, Carnforth town centre

Fairground rides, face painting, tombola, food stalls, live music from James Candlin and Northern Heights Stilt Walkers and of course Father Christmas. Live music from 6pm and the Switch On by the Mayor of Carnforth at 6.30pm.

 

Christmas Lights Switch On

Friday December 6, 4.30pm, Victoria Institute and Memorial Garden, Caton

With refreshments and carols.

 

Christmas Tree Festival

Friday December 6 to Sunday December 8, Christ Church, Lancaster

All the trees are sponsored by local businesses and organisations and decorated by local charity and community groups. As well as raising awareness for these amazing groups the festival will be raising funds for the Church and Lancaster and District Homeless Action Service.

 

Heysham Christmas Market

Saturday December 7 and Sunday December 8, The Royal, Heysham village, noon to 5pm

27 Artisan stall holders in heated marquee, £1 cash entry each adult, meet Santa & his elves, Wreay Syke Alpacas meet, greet & treat on Saturday, Thwaites Shire Horses & Santa on his sleigh on Sunday (weather dependant). Morecambe Ukulele players on Saturday, St John's Hospice choir on Sunday.

 

Friends of Beaumont Christmas Fair

Saturday, December 7, from 11:30am, Beaumont College, Slyne Road, Lancaster

Including live music from The Beets, the Beaumont Signing choir, a Christmas disco with Beyond Radio’s Luke Stutchbury, and much more.

 

Christmas Fayre

Saturday December 7, noon to 3.30pm, Wesley Methodist Church, Middleton Road, Heysham

With stalls ranging from handmade crafts & gifts, wreaths, beauty, new toys, table top sales, cakes, hot drink etc, and the little ones will love doing some of the crafts & playing games. Helping to raise funds for Middleton & Overton Sports FC Juniors.

 

West End Carol Service

Sunday December 15, 4pm, The Parish Church of St Barnabas, Regent Road, Morecambe, 

 

Lancaster BID Christmas events in Lancaster city centre

Sunday December 1, Reindeer Day will return to Lancaster city centre featuring the Cairngorm reindeer, facepainting and Santa.

Sunday December 8, Lancaster's Winter Wonderland as giant show globes parade through the city featuring snow princesses, a giant animatronic snow lion and winter sprites.

Sunday December 15, Lancaster Music Festival will host a special Christmas event of festive live music in Marketgate and St Nics Arcades shopping centres, and on the Market Square plinth.

Sunday December 22, Christmas Characters in the City will feature special appearances by The Grinch, winter goblins and a larger than life Elf on the Shelf!

A special Santa's Grotto on a Stagecoach bus will also be open in Lancaster city centre during selected Sundays in December.

 

Lancaster & Morecambe College 12 Days of LMC Christmas Campaign

The college will be choosing a different charity or organisation for each day, to spread awareness and help them out over the festive period with what they might need. Charities include the Morecambe Foodbank, Lancaster Homeless Centre, Safenet, CRY, Animal Care and more.
