The Retiring Mayor Of Lancaster Presents Cheque To Morecambe Lifeboat

On Saturday 7 July 2017, the retiring Mayor and Mayoress of Lancaster, Councillor Roger and Joyce Mace presented local RNLI volunteers with a cheque for £3,399-91 raised during his year of office.  Councillor Mace nominated Morecambe RNLI and Macmillan Cancer Support as the Mayor’s chosen charities for his year in office; raising the money through a number of events including a charity Fish and Chip Supper and a sponsored walk; undertaken by the Mayoress and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Stuart Bateson.

Councillor Mace was keen to express his thanks for the encouragement and support he had received from his Mayoress and Jenny Kay of the Mayor’s Office throughout the past year.

Morecambe RNLI volunteer Lifeboat Operations Manager, Kevin Jackson, said ‘The amount of money that the Mayor has raised is marvellous and the interest and support that he has extended to us during his year in office, helping to raise public awareness of the work that we do, is very much appreciated.’
