The Armed Forces Day flag is flying at Barrow, Kendal and Penrith, as part of Armed Forces Week 2024.
The week is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community; from currently serving personnel to service families, veterans and cadets, and culminates in Armed Forces Day on Saturday (29 June).
In Kendal, the flag had bee raised above the town hall in a short ceremony accompanied by a bugler and attended by members of the Royal British Legion.
In Barrow, the Armed Forces Day flag is flying from the front of the town hall, which is going to be lit up this week. The flag was also raised at Penrith Town Hall where it will fly throughout the week.
Westmorland and Furness Council demonstrated its commitment to the Armed Forces community by signing the National Armed Forces Covenant last year. The covenant ensures that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged in accessing public services by their military service.
