It was a perfect start to the match for the Shrimps as Lee Angol opened the scoring in just the second minute of the game.

Adam Lewis delivered a probing corner from the right, and it was bundled over the line by Angol for his first league goal of the season.

Morecambe then managed most of the rest of the rest of the first half very well, with manager Derek Adams executing a perfect gameplan to nullify the tactics of the Magpies, combined with some superb defending.

The only chance of note for the visitors was when they won a free-kick on the edge of the box. The cross found former Shrimp Jacob Bedeau, but his header was well over the bar.

At the other end, Adam Lewis did well to dispossess Dan Crowley just outside the 18-yard box, but his effort was just wide of the target, before Callum Jones saw a free kick saved by Alex Bass.

After some excellent defending from David Tutonda and Luke Hendrie, the Shrimps found themselves back in possession and, in the 40th minute, Callum Jones came close to doubling Morecambe’s lead. The midfielder’s free-kick drove through a crowded penalty area and was heading for the back of the net before Alex Bass made the all-important stop.

County came into the match much more in the second half.

Dan Crowley fired over the bar, and a free kick on the edge of the area was well defended by the wall, before Nicholas Tsaroulla’s first time effort curled over the bar.

Stuart Moore was called into action as Matty Platt fed the ball into George Abbott’s path before his shot was brilliantly saved one on one.

Notts County had been applying the pressure on the Morecambe defence and in the 79th minute they squared things up.

After a sustained spell of pressure on the edge of the area, Crowley fed Sam Austin, who crossed low from the right for Platt to convert at the back post.

In the first minute of extra time, the Shrimps thought they had scored the winner.

An Adam Lewis free kick was headed towards goal by Jamie Stott. The initial effort was kept out, before the referee deemed that his rebound effort did not cross the line, denying the Shrimps their first three points of the season.

Kayden Harrack was sent off for his second yellow card for his protests as the game ended all square.
