A top pool player from Morecambe has beaten the best in the world to become the 'Last Woman Standing'.

Megan Proctor defeated Kirsty-Lee Davies to claim the title in the exciting event run by Ultimate Pool over the weekend.

Ultimate Pool is billed as "the world's most exciting eight-ball circuit".

Last Woman Standing combines traditional match-play pool with a game show format.

Thirty-two players entered the tournament, with two players drawn at random to start the competition.

They played to a conclusion, with the loser being eliminated, and then a further draw took place with matches continuing until all, but one, of the players had been eliminated. The remaining player, Megan, was 'Last Woman Standing' and the winner.

There were also additional rules. For example, the top ranked players in the tournament were dubbed 'Assassins' and further prize money was available to anyone who could beat them.

Players could also decide to 'call out' a chosen opponent, rather than enter the random draw.

Megan first started playing at the age of 12 in local pubs, going on to play for the Megazone in the Morecambe and District Pool League, and won the Morecambe women's singles title at the age of 14.

After a few years' break from the sport, she picked up the cue again in 2019 and has never looked back, becoming one of the best players in the country.

She played for the England team that finished runner-up in the European Team Championships in 2023, and earlier this year in singles, she reached the finals of two Ultimate Pool Tour events after beating former world champions.

Megan also reached the doubles semi-finals at the world championships with playing partner Sarah Wait.

Last year she made the decisive clearance to help England Ladies beat France 8-6 in the WEPF (World Eightball Pool Federation) World Championships team final.
