Morecambe are out of the Vertu Trophy at the round of 32 stage, following a 1-0 defeat to Lincoln City at the Mazuma.
Chances were few and far between on Tuesday night, and it was a goal in the 19th minute for the League One visitors that proved to be the difference between the sides.
Dylan Duffy found space on the left and crossed to the waiting Bailey Cadamarteri whose flick header was enough to send the ball beyond Stuart Moore.
Morecambe, who made seven changes to their starting line-up for the fixture, came close to finding one through Jordan Slew who struck at goal but was unable to find the target.
Hallam Hope then found space in the penalty area, but his curling effort was inches wide, before Callum Jones latched onto a loose ball on the edge of the area, but his shot was blocked.
Chances remained at a premium for both sides in the second half.
For the Shrimps, Tom White picked up the ball just outside the box and he took aim with a powerful strike that flew just wide of the post.
At the other end, the Imps saw an effort crash against the post as Rico Hackett’s effort was deflected onto the upright by Ross Millen.
A Paul Lewis effort trickled wide, before Morecambe thought they had equalised in the 77th minute when Hope had the ball in the back of the net, but the assistant lifted his flag for offside
Hope had another decent effort from distance in the closing moments, but the visiting keeper did well to collect.
