A team of young people is getting ready to represent the Lancaster area in the annual International Youth Games.
The Games begin in Rendsburg, Germany tomorrow (Tuesday July 23).
Lancaster will be represented in five sports - athletics, badminton, basketball, rowing and swimming.
The Games has been taking place since the mid-70s as a way to strengthen links between Lancaster and its twin towns. The four countries involved take it in turns to host.
The host cities are Aalborg in Denmark, Almere in the Netherlands, Rendsburg and Lancaster, all of whom are twinned with each other.
In 2016, Lancaster's participation in the Games was under threat due to the withdrawal of Lancaster City Council funding. A team of local sport leaders got together to form a voluntary committee to find the funding to keep Lancaster involved.
Last year's games were held in Lancaster.
