Dylan Moonan has become Lancaster City’s third summer signing.
The 21-year-old midfielder joins the Dolly Blues after former club Atherton Collieries announced his departure earlier this month.
He was a trialist in Lancaster City’s pre-season friendly against AFC Fylde last week and impressed.
Moonan started his career at Burnley’s academy before moving to Accrington Stanley in 2021.
He has two seasons of Northern Premier League experience.
He spent a month on loan from Accrington at Stalybridge Celtic in 2022, working with now Lancaster manager Chris Willcock, before joining FC United of Manchester later in the 22/23 campaign.
Moonan was then released by Accrington in the summer of 2023.
He spent the whole of last season at Atherton, making 37 appearances for them and scoring four times.
Moonan’s arrival is Lancaster City’s third summer signing, along with former Atherton Collieries and Ashton United forward Marcus Cusani and Chris Dagnall, who spent most of his career at a host of English Football League such as Barnsley, Crewe, Leyton Orient and Rochdale.
Lancaster City’s pre-season schedule has now got underway.
They played National League side AFC Fylde last Friday (July 5) and looked impressive despite a 2-1 defeat.
Chris Dagnall scored in that game with a low drive that went in off the post.
On Saturday (July 13), Lancaster City host another fifth-tier side in Altrincham, who finished in the league’s playoff places last season.
After that, the Festival of Football at Isle of Man FC, involving Lancaster, Chester, Radcliffe and the hosts, takes place from July 19 to July 21.
Away trips to Witton Albion (July 27) and Clitheroe (July 30) are followed up by the visit of League Two outfit Accrington Stanley to The Giant Axe on August 3.
The Northern Premier League season gets under way on August 10, with fixtures set to be announced next week.
