Goalkeeper Moore becomes fifth summer addition for Shrimps

Goalkeeper Stuart Moore has today become Morecambe FC’s latest addition to the squad.

The stopper joins from near neighbours Blackpool FC on a one-year deal.

The 28-year-old came through the ranks of Portsmouth & Reading in his early days, which included loan spells with clubs including Bath City, Basingstoke  Town, Peterborough United and Luton Town before joining Barrow in 2017.

In recent years, Moore has spent time with Swindon Town, MK Dons, Wealdstone and Blackpool. During the latter half of last season, Stuart was on loan at Doncaster Rovers.

Across his career to date, he has played a variety of levels across the English football pyramid, experience that will be a valuable asset to Derek Adams’ side.

Manager Derek Adams said: “It is good to add competition to our goalkeeping department. Stuart is an experienced player who has turned out for clubs at various levels and he will come in knowing what lies ahead in League Two.”

“Going forward we know that we have two strong goalkeepers who will go toe-to-toe for the jersey and that is the environment we have had and want to keep at this football club.”

Moore added: “I am delighted to join Morecambe. I am at a stage where I want to be competing regularly for that No.1 jersey and I feel I can do that here. It’s a great opportunity for me to continue developing in a division I know well.”

“I can’t wait to get underway today and start off 2023/24 here at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium.”

Moore becomes the club's second signing of the day, after it was revealed midfielder Yann Songo'o has rejoined the Shrimps.
