Morecambe boxers took home plenty of wins and trophies as boxing returned to the Trimpell Club.
A packed crowd enjoyed the Morecambe and District (MAD) Boxing Academy show on Friday night where the home gym fighters were in terrific form.
The amateur boxing show began with 'skills' contests where the judges do not score. They involved MAD boxers Ellis Evans, Anthony Diprose and Sean Featon, who all gave a good account of themselves.
In the first scored bout of the evening, Thalia Mulgrew of MAD Boxing boxed with courage against Cara Jones of Oldham, who won a unanimous decision.
Dave Harrison was impressive in winning a unanimous decision over Oscar Piertek of Blackrod, also winning the award for junior boxer of the night.
Paul A Barton was in firm control of his fight with James Cowan from Macclesfield, when the bout was called off on the doctor's advice in Round 2 due to Cowan's injured eye. Barton took the decision on the scorecards.
Eli Sowerby dominated his bout with Cameron McBride of Tameside Elite, who retired in Round 2.
Nathan Loughran (below, left), the crowd firmly behind him, then scored a unanimous decision over Ewan Harrison of Tameside.
The skilled and confident Adam Bonnell was again in scintillating form, as he beat the willing Preet Solanki of Premier by unanimous decision - taking the senior boxer of the night trophy with a display of natural movement, defensive qualities and sharp punching.
Andrew Hargreaves and Adam Hargreaves were also victorious in their bouts, taking MAD's number of wins on the night to seven in total.
The final bout was the fight of the night, an all-action, heavy punching scrap between MAD's Lauchlan Savage and Ethan Greer of Barrow. The tough Greer inflicted a standing count on Lauchlan in Round 1 and did enough to take the decision over three exciting rounds.
Savage, though, quickly rebounded to score a win the very next day via unanimous decision on a show in Manchester.
