Woman seriously injured in Garstang hit and run

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was left seriously injured following a hit and run collision in Garstang earlier this week.

Police were called around 4.40pm yesterday (Thursday, January 6) to a report of a woman being injured on Croston Road, close to the junction with Hawthorn Avenue.

The woman, aged in her 60s, was crossing the road when she was hit by a car travelling in the direction of the A6, towards the Burlingham junction traffic lights.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop, with the woman suffering a broken arm, broken leg and serious injuries. She was taken to hospital for treatment.

PC Gary Holliday, of Lancashire Police, said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a hit and run collision in Garstang.

“An elderly woman has been left with serious injuries and we want to find the driver of the vehicle involved.

“Did you see what happened, or see a car in the area driving erratically around the time of the collision? If so, please come forward.”
