VIDEO and PHOTOS: Take a first look inside Lancaster's new fish and chips restaurant

We have been given a first look inside Lancaster city centre's new fish and chips restaurant.

Mother Hubbard's will open this Saturday with an incredible offer - the first 1000 customers will get fish and chips for just 45p!

This is because Mother Hubbard's was launched in 1972, and 45p was the cost of fish and chips 52 years ago!

The new store is located in the City Block building on Penny Street, well-known to people who have enjoyed Lancaster nightlife through the years, as previously home to venues including The Apothecary, The Lounge and Lanky's.

The decor inside the new shop is a slick combination of modern and the past, featuring framed black-and-white photos of historic street scenes from the Lancaster District through the years, and a state-of-the-art serving counter with snazzy video screens.

Mother Hubbard's was launched in Bradford in May 1972 and the first store was opened by Coronation Street legends Stan and Hilda Ogden (actors Bernard Youens and Jean Alexander).

The chain has shops all over the north of England, with branches coming soon to London, Glasgow, Manchester and even Dubai.
