Tributes pour in for inspirational Morecambe cancer campaigner after message announcing her death

Tributes have flooding in following the death of an inspirational teacher from Morecambe after her passing was announced on social media.

Kate Rackham was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, receiving a terminal diagnosis two years later.

In a final heartbreaking post on X, which has now been viewed 33 million times, she wrote: “If you're reading this, I have died but do not cry for me.

‘’I have lived my life on my own terms, the way I have wanted to.

“I joined X because I needed an outlet, what I got was so much more.

“You made me feel validated in my feelings and much less alone. Thank you.”

Beccy Barr from Lancaster, a former TV journalist who now works for the fire service, attended the same school as Kate.

She said: “In recent months we reconnected and she was incredibly empathic and supportive of my terminal diagnosis as she handled her own. What a wonderful woman.”

Kate is survived by her husband Mark and her two children, Nancy and Ruby.

A JustGiving page has been set up for anyone who wishes to donate towards support for Kate’s children, instead of funeral flowers.
