Drain repairs will be carried out at a Morecambe shopping centre car park after complaints about flooding.

The Westgate Shopping Centre car park is currently covered in large amounts of surface water, causing issues for motorists using the shops.

Morecambe County Councillor Charlie Edwards said he'd been told repairs will take place on Monday.

"I’ve spoken with the management company acting on behalf of the owners of the car park, who have told me that works have been booked in for this Monday to repair the drains," said County Councillor Edwards.

"Thank you so much for everyone who has raised this issue with me. I take these guys at their word and hope the work will make an improvement and stop the flooding."

A shopkeeper on Westgate Precinct told Beyond Radio he'd also been informed the repairs will take place on Monday.

The car park serves nine shops, including a Tesco Express, Jo-n-Lee's Cafe, a bookmakers and a fish and chip shop.
