Police are asking the public to be vigilant after reports of attempted burglaries at addresses in the Bare and Torrisholme areas of Morecambe.
Morecambe Area Police say that over the last few weeks, they’ve had reports of a man approaching the rear of properties, attempting to gain access at times between 6pm and 11pm.
He is described as approximately 5 foot 10, slim build, wearing a white hooded toggle jacket with a black balaclava and black trainers.
Anyone with footage or information is asked to email 6712@lancashire.police.uk or call 101.
They’re also reminding residents to make sure that their properties are secure and safe.
The advice includes:
Close and lock your doors and windows at all times.
Hide all keys, including car keys, out of sight and away from the letterbox, as a device could be used to hook keys through.
Fit an intruder alarm in a visible place and test it frequently.
Consider installing security lights.
Leave a radio or light on timer and draw the curtains when you go out at night to make your property look occupied.
Store any high value items such as jewellery or passports in a secure place or in a safe.
Residents are also reminded that a crime in progress should always be called in on the emergency number of 999.
