Thousands enjoyed the return of Morecambe's popular steampunk festival and there are calls for it to come back again in 2025.

The 'A Splendid Day Out' event ran from June 7 to 9 centred around the Platform and the King's Arms.

There was also a parade of people in their steampunk finery to the Eric Morecambe Statue on the Saturday.

Steampunk is a fantasy genre based on Victorian times with a modern twist.

This was the first time the event had been in Morecambe since 2019.

"The Steampunk Festival returned to an overwhelming 7000 smiling faces, magnificent costumes, fantastic music and an abundance of creations to buy," said Rose Roberts, organiser.

"We cannot believe how supportive both the steampunk community and the locals have been, with all their kind words.

"It's clear we were missed and there are shouts for us to return in 2025 so watch this space."
