
A health centre in Heysham has had to close for the day due to damage from Storm Eowyn.
Patients and staff were evacuated from the Primary Care Centre on Middleton Way on Friday afternoon as high winds continued to batter the Lancaster and Morecambe area.
An amber weather warning is in place for the North West, with very strong winds leading to widespread disruption on Friday.
Bay Medical Group, who run Heysham Primary Care Centre, made the announcement on Friday afternoon
"BMG patients, Heysham Health Centre is closed due to storm damage," said a post on their Facebook page.
"The building is not safe, so all staff and patients have been evacuated.
"All appointments have been cancelled for the rest of the day and these patients have been informed .
"You will be contacted about next weeks appointment if it needs to be re-arranged, please bear with us, whilst the owners of the property make the necessary repairs.
"Other agencies in this building are also closed which are:
"Cohens pharmacy, so if your prescription is ready to collect, please get in touch with any other branch of Cohens ,to arrange collection.
"The community diagnostic hub, if you have an appointment over the weekend and into next week, the team will be in touch.
"The district nursing team, again if you have an queries, please contact your usual number for advice."
Roof repairs are expected to take place on Monday January 27 and all patients who have an appointment today and on Monday will be contacted directly to rearrange.
