Morecambe lifeboat crew respond to ‘good intent’ call for help at Half Moon Bay

Morecambe’s lifeboat crew responded to a ‘good intent’ call for help at Half Moon Bay yesterday afternoon.

On Tuesday (June 18) they received a call from His Majesty’s Coastguard to assist with a person stuck in the mud.

Launch Authority Martyn Browitt authorised the launch of the Hovercraft just before 1pm.

The crew of the Hovercraft made to the reported sighting off Half Moon Bay.

Upon arrival the crew began a search but no person was found to be stuck or in danger of becoming stuck.

The crew returned to station and prepared the hovercraft for the next call to service.

Mr Browitt said: ‘’It appeared to be a call with good intent.

‘’This incident served as a timely reminder for anyone using the Bay.

‘’There are many hidden areas of mud and quicksand which can trap people in seconds. Stay close to the shoreline and make sure someone on the shore is aware of your whereabouts at all times.’’
