The Morecambe coat of arms mosaic has been temporarily removed for repair and restoration.
The mosaic, located near Morecambe Promenade, should be reinstalled by the end of September.
A spokesperson for Lancaster City Council said the repaired mosaic will be installed upon a new plinth to be built at the existing site,
The mosaic, featuring Morecambe's motto 'Beauty Surrounds, Health Abounds' was moved from its previous home in New Town Square outside the Arndale shopping centre in 2016.
Local artist Shane Johnstone will be working on the restoration project.
