Lancaster BID launch car park survey after local feedback on changes

Lancaster BID is asking businesses for views on the recent changes to car parking tariffs across the district.

A raft of changes to parking charges was implemented last month across Lancaster City Council owned car parks.

The BID has now launched a survey after local feedback on those changes, specifically as to whether they should lobby for the two-hour tariff to be reintroduced.

A spokesperson for Lancaster BID said: ‘’When the plans were first announced, Lancaster BID acted on feedback from businesses and successfully lobbied for a cheaper overnight tariff to be reintroduced.

‘’Following initial feedback from some businesses, we are now seeking views from businesses throughout the BID Zone.

‘’Since the new tariffs came into force, we have been contacted by a number of businesses to raise some concerns. Specifically, several businesses have highlighted the removal of a two-hour parking option as a concern.

‘’Lancaster City Council has highlighted that the reintroduction of a two-hour tariff would reduce their income from parking which would impact on their budgets, potentially leading to a reduction in services elsewhere.

‘’We are now asking businesses if you would support the reintroduction of the two-hour parking rate and would like Lancaster BID to lobby for this to happen. We would also like to hear any other thoughts you have about the new parking tariffs.’’
