Could filming of the new series of The Bay be about to begin?

Filming for the new series of Morecambe based crime drama, The Bay, is set to get underway soon, as first glimpses of scripts were revealed today.

Series 4 of the popular ITV show is set to air sometime in 2023, and creator, Daragh Carville, has got fans excited as he shared a photo of the front cover of the script of episode one of the new series to fans on social media.

Series 3 ended in February, with the third season based around the death of aspiring boxer, whose body was found in the sea near at Half Moon Bay at Heysham in the first episode.

The last series saw actress Marsha Thomason join as Morecambe CID’s new Family Liaison Officer, DS Jenn Townsend, alongside regulars Daniel Ryan, Erin Shanagher, Thomas Law and Andrew Dowbiggin.

The drama has previously used many prime locations across North Lancashire, including Morecambe Prom, Queen Street, Hest Bank, Heysham Port, and the outside of Morecambe Police Station.

The closing episode of series 3 also featured scenes shot at the White Cross pub in Lancaster.

Meanwhile The Bay has been nominated for three TV Choice awards including Best drama series, with Dan Ryan up for Best actor and Marsha Thomason up for Best actress.

Tall Story Pictures, the production company who make the show, Tweeted: ‘’YAY!  The Bay is up for a TV Choice Award.  Lovely news to receive just before we start filming the new series.’’

At the end of series 3, they posted: ‘’We are thrilled to be returning to Morecambe for another series. Huge thanks to the fantastic cast & crew of series 3, and to all who watched this year - a massive massive thank you. We’ll be back on ITV next year.’’
