A Carnforth charity shop has raised more than £100,000 for local causes since opening less than two years ago.
The 3R Foundation has now awarded over £100,592 of grants to local charities, clubs and community groups in the Morecambe, Lancaster, North Lancashire and South Lakes area, since February 2023.
The 3R Charity shop, located on Lancaster Road, has gone from strength to strength, with an ethos of ‘ReCycle, ReHome and ReUse’, with dozens of local good causes handed financial assistance to date.
Grant awards are typically for amounts between £500 and £1,000, and can be used for anything that a group or organisation might need, be that a one off purchase of a vital piece of equipment, or towards something else.
Paul Calland 3R Operations Manager, said: ‘’Our ethos has been taken to heart by everyone who donates items to us, by the lovely customers who buy them and give them another home.
‘’But most importantly every penny of profit is put back into the local community and into the organisations locals want them to go to.
‘’There are no fancy offices anywhere, just volunteers and staff from the local community, supported by the local community, putting the funds back into the local community!’’

The 3R Foundation was formed by an experienced charity shop team, who were left with no home when their existing shop was closed down in 2022. They have all worked together for a number of years and the managers have over a dozen years of experience running very successful and popular independent local charity shops.
Their premises and our new shop was opened on the February 1, 2023, in what used to be the Bathroom and Kitchen showroom next to Tesco in Carnforth.
There is a car park at the side and even an unloading bay at the front door, so it is very easy to drop off donations and collect larger purchases.
The shop was started completely from scratch, with setup funding coming just from the team themselves and main sponsors Treble Design Ltd.
They rely on donations for stock, and are always very grateful for any of the following: clothes, shoes, bags, furniture, books, CDs, DVDs, working electricals, glass and chinaware, toys and games.
