Introducing...Life in Neon

Life In Neon

Morecambe band Life in Neon are aiming for the bright lights after airplay on Beyond Radio - and a national radio station too!

The band's new single ‘Relieved’ was played on BBC Introducing within a day of its release, much to their delight.

Now they are gearing up to appear at the new Tap House Unsigned nights in Lancaster, supported by Beyond Radio.

After forming officially in September 2024, Life in Neon have achieved a lot in their short time after originating out of Morecambe organisation More Music.

Members Benny Backhouse (lead vocals and writer), George Ashcroft-Smith (drummer and vocals), Jack Arnold (guitar and writer) and Taylor Jackson (Bassist) have known each other since they were 16, playing separately and together for many years.

When asked about the local music scene, drummer George and guitarist Jack were enthusiastic about the improvement, describing it as a "boom in really good live music" emerging in the area.

Life in Neon lead singer Benny describes their style as ‘indie rock synth pop’, with their main influences being the 1975 and McFly.

When it comes to writing new music the band have looked to Pink Floyd and Bleachers to help inspire new songs and cross genres as a band.

Since the formation of the band, they have performed live at The Golden Lion as well as The Tap House.

Engaging audiences with high energy performances, Life in Neon has changed to ‘more of a raw sound’, and said they meticulously plan their setlist to provide the best possible performance for pub goers.

2025 is shaping up to be a successful year for Life in Neon, with a new fan favourite single ‘Press Play’ set to be released in early February.

The single has received great feedback from their live performances and are hoping for the same reaction upon its release.

‘Is now a good time?’ will be the band's next EP, described as more attuned to the sound and style they want associated with Life in Neon.

The next EP is hoping to build on from the first and is to be set to be released in March.

If you want to go and see Life in Neon, their next gig will be at The Tap House on the first of the Gage Street venue's new Tap House Unsigned live local music nights, on Wednesday February 5.
