LOWES are preparing for a special homecoming set, as they headline a fantastic line up at Kanteena at part of the Lancaster Music Festival.
The electronic trio - Evie Plumb, Jamie Walker and Luke Paget – will top the bill at the Brewery Lane venue next Friday night (October 11), alongside a range of other local, original musical talent.
LOWES probably need little introduction locally, but they are an alternative electronic trio comprising of vocalist Evie, and producer/multi-instrumentalists Jamie & Luke.
Converging in Lancaster, the band have been fusing together their unique electro-organic blend to deliver a number of euphoric releases and high-profile dance collaborations since 2018.
Since winning BBC Radio 1’s Dance Vocalist of the Year Award, the band have been working on their next chapter, one which oozes a fresh kind of authenticity, defiance, and liberation, whilst retaining the captivating versatility and infectious songwriting that has so far successfully steered their ship to this latest horizon.
Drawing upon their now six year history of varied and impactful releases, spanning scandi-pop, drum and bass, house, trance, jungle, and experimental-electronic genres, the LOWES live show is a rollercoaster, taking in the rave, the sombre ballad, and everything in between, with ambitious live musicianship and electrifying showmanship at its core.
Lead singer Evie said: ‘’ We are ecstatic to be performing at Lancaster Music Festival next week, headlining the Friday night at the now iconic 'Kanteena' venue.
‘’Joined by some incredible local talent, Kiwi, Lois, and The Silver Bars will all be joining the line up that night to showcase some of the best emerging talent in the North West.
‘’The line-up has been co-curated by the three of us, alongside LMF and Kanteena, so we're really excited that your gig ticket gets you such great value – four live acts plus an exhilarating after party featuring talented live DJs and instrumentalists.
‘’Lancaster Music Festival has been such a touchstone for us as a band, supporting us right from our very early days - in previous iterations of the event, we've played to a resilient and soaked-through crowd at the atmospheric castle venue, and again here at Kanteena back before the pandemic.
‘’We've come a long way since then, but we hope we still pack a punch and deliver a great show full of highs and Lowes (pardon the pun!).''
‘’We always try and make sure our gigs are a bit of a rollercoaster - with some high energy moments to get you dancing - playing live versions of some of our house and Drum & Bass collaborations, and some more raw and authentic moments too, drawing on some of the ballads we've released over the years.’’
Recently the band received national plaudits after being asked to perform on BBC Radio 2, playing two live tracks on a show hosted by Jo Whiley before the Radio 2 In The Park event in Preston last month.
‘’I guess you never know where a project is going to take you and LOWES has certainly been a journey of many chapters,’’ said Evie.
‘’It was an amazing experience to chat to Jo, perform our own song 'Contagious' from our latest EP, and a cover 'Message In A Bottle' by The Police.
‘’We've been overwhelmed by the positive response to that show and we in fact released our live recording version on Spotify last week after so much demand!
‘’We always rehearse a vast array of our songs and then choose the setlist closer to the date, so we're still finalising the setlist, but I am really hoping that 'Message In A Bottle' cover makes the final cut!
Support for LOWES comes from local four-piece band Kiwi, who supported the band at their Brewery Arts gig in early summer this year; the soulful, catchy sounds of Morecambe singer/songwriter Lois; and The Silver Bars, a talented bunch of South Lakes lads with incredible vocals and great stage presence.
