Emma Townley, Sophie Lyden and Jane Bailey from Westgate Tyres

A family-run auto repair centre in Morecambe has won another major industry award.

Westgate Tyres scooped the Community Hero Award at the Independent Garage of the Year Awards, held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole at the NEC Birmingham on Friday.

The company on Westgate is run by the Bailey family including husband and wife Graham and Jane, and daughters Emma Townley and Sophie Lyden.

"We are so proud, this is our 21st award!" said a post on the Westgate Tyres Facebook page.

"And our local community is so important to us, so it’s a real honour to win this award."

Run by the Independent Garages Association, the awards recognise garages, industry suppliers and standout stars from across the UK.

Westgate Tyres, based on Westgate in Morecambe, was established in 1997.

Sophie is also the founder of Fresh Drivers UK, a motoring group for young and new drivers, that aims to help people become more confident on the roads and in a garage environment.
