An ex-professional boxer and former NHS worker have joined forces to run a new state-of-the-art gym in Lancaster.

Tomi Tatham, owner of TNT Elite gym in Lancaster, and gym manager Danni Riley spoke to Beyond Radio about the new facility on the Lune Business Park near St George's Quay.

Tomi was a promising professional light heavyweight with a record of 11 wins in 13 fights, when a serious eye injury prematurely ended his career in 2017.

"Boxing ended sooner than I would have liked, but somebody told me years ago when I was fighting, make sure you have something to fall back on," he said.

"I love fitness, so I built up my personal training, I had studios, but the dream was always to have a gym in Lancaster."

Danni worked in the NHS for 10 years as a pharmacy technician and health care assistant.

"I was a member at Tomi's other gym at Cowan Bridge in Kirkby Lonsdale, and I used to do a bit of cleaning in the gym to help," said Danni.

"He phoned me up one morning and said 'I've got a business proposition for you'. I was just thinking it would be more cleaning!

"He said 'I'm opening a new gym in Lancaster and I'd like you to run it'. I had a think about it, not that there was much thinking to be done!

"I'm really happy I made the move."
