A popular Italian ice cream business is set to open a new shop in Lancaster city centre.
Miogelato will open its new gelateria on New Street very soon, it has been announced.
Miogelato announced the new shop in Lancaster with a post on its social media on Sunday which said:
"So….after a month of hard graft, we are very close to opening our new gelateria in Lancaster!
"Nestling between the amazing Journey Social and the lovely Ethel & Em and surrounded by lots of other lovely neighbours on New Street, we put up (most of) the signage today, so no more hiding!
"With a big push, we are aiming to have a very soft (not too soft, hopefully) opening towards the end of this next week, and can’t wait to share our incredible gelato with the people of Lancaster, and if you’ve visited us in Morecambe in the past eight years, then you will know what to expect!"
The business, run by David Waddington, also has a shop on the corner of Marine Road Central and Queen Street in Morecambe (below), having opened there in 2017.
"We will have 24 flavours of our award-winning gelato to choose from, include five dairy free/vegan suitable flavours, and four rotating guest flavours. I’ll share more pictures of the interior this week as we go along, but for now just to say we can’t wait to get going," said the post.
"We look forward to joining the fantastic community of businesses in Lancaster and opening our door to welcome you all in."
The shop will open in the former Fabrix haberdashery, which closed earlier this year.
Miogelato won a Best Newcomer award in the National Ice Cream Competition in 2018.
Mr Waddington (below) also runs the Miaitalia Italian restaurant on Queen Street in Morecambe, which moved from Bolton-le-Sands in 2022. Miaitalia was nominated in three categories at this year's Italian Awards and won Best Pizzeria in 2016.
