INTERVIEW: New 'daytime nightclub' set to launch in Lancaster

Sally Davidson, general manager of Vibe nightclub in Lancaster

A Lancaster venue is set to launch a new 'nightclub during the day' hoping to emulate the success of similar events run by Line of Duty actor Vicky McClure.

'The Daytime Club' at Vibe will give ravers the chance to come out during the afternoon and get home well before midnight.

It will run from 3pm to 9pm, feature two rooms of music from the 1990s and the 2000s, and DJs from iconic Lancaster clubs of bygone days including Liquid, Toast, Hustle, The Lounge and Revolution.

Trigger Point star Vicky and her husband Jonny Owen have been running similar 'Day Fever' events in cities around the UK, which have proved a massive hit.

"Hopefully we are the first in Lancaster to bring the night-time experience to the daytime hours," said Sally.

"We saw this brilliant idea from Vicky McClure, who started this brand called 'Day Fever', which was exactly what we were looking to do here - a daytime rave for people who don't want to go to bed at 3am!

"It's going to be called 'Retro Rewind' and we're aiming it at people who want to go out during the day, have a brilliant experience and enjoy themselves like they used to back in the day at the venues that are no longer with us.

"If you want to go out and get back for 10pm, feet on the couch, this is the perfect event for you!"

DJ Mark Freejack, formerly of the old Liquid nightclub in Lancaster, and Simba, a firm favourite at the former Toast nightclub in the city, will be appearing at the first 'Daytime Club' on Saturday March 30.

Tickets are available in advance from Vibe or on the door.
